The Roof
There is a long list of jobs to be done in order for Twin Oaks to become what we have dreamed about. There are big jobs that take planning and paper work. Then there are fun weekend jobs that we just end up doing because we don't feel like tackling the more serious work.
We applied to the District of Saanich for heritage funding to have our roof redone as it is in serious need. Through the District of Saanich we can apply to have a certain percent of the job paid for by the municipality due to the age of our home. It is an initiative to make owning an older home slightly more affordable and as long as your home is heritage designate you can apply each year to have them help pay for the exterior restoration. We were very happy to find out that our application was accepted and we will be receiving a grant to cover a portion of the cost. It is a bit of a process but when you take on larger jobs it is nice to get all the help we can get.
Our roof is in some serious need of some TLC.
We go up the roof regularly to take in the amazing view of Victoria and the occasional sunset. Rob also take this time to inspect the condition of the roof.
The height tends to get to me but Rob can walk out to the edge and really see all of it.
The only issue is that the roofing companies we have spoken with are all busy until the fall. Luckily we are out of the rainy season here so we should be fine. We were really hoping it would have been done by now but we are at the mercy of roofing companies.
