Details

I keep imagining/hoping that this house is full of hidden treasure. Not chests of gold but hidden family heirlooms that have been long forgotten. Some stories have come out of what was found when the house was sold but what has become quite obvious is that the house is holding all kinds of family heirlooms in the small details that adorn it.

Some stories have come out of what was found when the house was sold but what has become quite obvious is that the house is holding all kinds of family heirlooms in the small details that adorn it.

One of my favourite parts of the home is all the hardware and in particular the recessed door handle on the sliding doors between the dining room and the living room. The details in the metal work is draw dropping and this Eastlake style is echoed throughout the house.

Front Door Handle

Before purchasing this house I was not aware of the Eastlake style and I would have identified it broadly as Victorian, but I am beginning to see the subtle geometric designs and modest curves.

The treasures are overflowing.
